We’ve filled the streets, galleries, community spaces and storefronts of Mazomanie with spontaneous physical composition enjoyed exquisite afternoons of focused movement explored aerial, vocal, musical, silent, site-specific, physical, theatrical and contact-based improvisation, welcomed the curious via free classes and performances, accrued rich memories of retreat and reconnection in a peaceful, beautiful rural setting. The Rumpus Room is open from noon to 2am.MAZOPALOOZA IS A DANCE FESTIVAL which has been quietly thriving in the dead of winter in a tiny town in Southwest Wisconsin for over a decade. The bar will host DJ nights and already has plans to bring in DJ Soggy Fries, who performs at other local bars, including Edinburgh Castle in the Tenderloin and Pops in the Mission. The highlight of the new bar’s decor is "Ruthie," an enormous piece of wood art created by Walker Babington, who used only a blowtorch to create the work. Accent walls are papered with a golden feather print, a motif that also appears on the back of candid shots taken in the bar's Photo-matica photo booth. Vintage Art Deco fixtures have been mounted over the bar and the DJ booth has been adorned with fake greenery. The Rumpus Room's cocktail menu also includes specials like a blended Piña Colada with coconut cream and pineapple, and the Weekend at Enrique's, which contains Vida Mezcal, Lillet, pineapple simple syrup and walnut bitters. One hundred percent agave, a shot with a can of Tecate goes for $8. ![]() “I love tequila, so the well tequila is good,” De Marco said. Happy hour runs from noon to 5:00pm, when most drinks are $1 cheaper. Tap options include Moscow mule, along with white and rosé wines. The Rumpus Room's pina colada comes with an amaretto float. Accordingly, well drinks are $5, most draft beers are $6, and a draft Budweiser is $3. “I want it to be a neighborhood bar with a comfortable vibe and affordable prices,” she said. Previously, the space was held by Showdown, which closed abruptly last year. Owned by longtime bartender Roxzanna De Marco (Amnesia, Southern Pacific Brewing Company), this is her first saloon. ![]() that's continuously operated as a bar since 1935.
